Special Memories’ unique pedigree showed in his early predisposition for jumping.  His brilliance, versatility, and consistency has been evident in his performance.   As a two year old Special Memories was granted a provisional license by the International Sporthorse Registry (ISR) based on his breeding, conformation and obvious free jumping talent.   As a four year old, Special Memories  passed the 100-day test with high jumping scores.  As a five year old Special Memories  won the International Jumping Futurity (IJF) Championship (Devon), only his third jumping show.  As a six year old, again lightly shown, he was 6th in the IJF championship at Devon with an unfortunate rail.  He was than lightly show with success in 1993-1994 through high preliminary level.  Because of his combined bloodlines, beauty and talent, he was the first anglo-trakehner accepted into the American Trakehner Association (ATA) stud book .

To complete his permanent ATA stallion approval, Special Memories competed in his first recognized horse trial in 1995 with Philip  Dutton.  In a short period of a few months in 1995 he moved up to Open Preliminary level, never finishing worse then third and showing effortless speed  and jumping technique in the cross-county .

However, not wanting to risk this unique stallion at the highest levels of the eventing sport to which he was rapidly progressing and wanting to see his talents actualized at the highest levels of his primary  discipline, jumping, the decision was made to redirect him  to the show ring. In 1997, he competed in his first show jumping grand prix and quickly progressed to the top levels of grand prix jumping.  He finished that year with 8 clear rounds out of 12 grand prix competitions  in such  prestigious and top level events as the $50,000 Devon Gold Cup, the Navigator (Devon World Cup qualifier), the $50,000 Budweiser Jumping Championship, and the Madison Square Garden Welcome Stake at the National Horse Show.   In all Special Memories placed in 16 of the 20 grand prixes in which he competed against the top horses in the nation.  He has earnings of almost $50,000.

Special Memories has been accepted into the NASFA stud book as a Facteur Selle Francais stallion. He was the highest scoring stallion for that year over such stallion as Fakir Rouge and Oh Star.

Special Memories remains sound and eager to work and has been kind and versatile enough to be campaigned,  as time allows, as an Amateur Owner jumper “family” mount.
